The WHOIS Protection is a service meant to hide your personal data from the public WHOIS, since it is public and everyone can see the registrant data. This allows you to defend yourself from spam since your email address is not shown. Please keep in mind that for .it domains it’s not possible to hide your first and last name, but you can hide all the other informations.
If you want to enable or disable WHOIS protection for generic domains please check the tutorial Enable and Disable WHOIS Protection.
To enable or disable the WHOIS protection for your domain from our client area all you need to do is to access our client area, then click on domains on top, or “My Domains” in the left sidebar:
Then click on the domain name of your choice in the list on the next page.
On the left sidebar click on “Domain Configurations”:
.it domains have some additional fields when compared to generic domains as you can see in the image below. From this page you will be able to manage all the additional fields (in case you need to change the registrar informations) including the WHOIS Protection.
In the image above we can see that the WHOIS protection is active for the domain. If we want to deactivate it we’ll need to modify the 3 selectors and accept the terms and conditions, then click on Update.
Obviously you can update the codice fiscale (italian social security number) and the other domain data.
